What topics are included in the online Paediatric First Aid Course?

The course is very comprehensive, containing 12 modules which cover the following topics: communication with the sick or injured child; the child with a fever; the child with a breathing problem; the choking child; the child with a gastrointestinal problem; the child with a cardiovascular problem; the child with a back or neck problem; the child with a neurological problem; the child with a visual problem; the child with a skin problem; the child with a sugar problem; and Action Plans. Studying all 12 modules provides with with a good understanding of the theory and practice of paediatric first aid.

How long are each of the videos?

Most videos are around 10-15 minutes. The content is very concise in presentation  because they are custom-designed specifically to help you complete this course successfully.

Will I get a Statement of Attainment when I complete this course?

You are enrolling to complete Unit of Competency RFARRS001 Recognise and Respond to Sick or Injured Children in partial completion of 10199NAT Course in Recognition and First Aid Care for Sick or Injured Children. To gain a Statement of Attainment in the full accredited course 10199NAT you must either;

  1. Enrol to complete HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting within 6 weeks of completing RFARRS001 Recognise and Respond to Sick or Injured Children

Or

  1. Provide a Statement of Attainment showing the successful completion of HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting. In order to apply for credit transfer of this unit is must have been completed in the previous 6 weeks. This is due to industry requirements regarding refresher training in CPR and First Aid.  

 You are free to complete the unit of competency RFARRS001 Recognise and Respond to Sick or Injured Children without undertaking HLTAID004 Provide an Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting. A Statement of Attainment will be issued showing only the unit you have completed.
